Sriram Vedire appointed as adviser to Water Resources Ministry

Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation has appointed Sriram Vedire as an adviser in all matters pertaining to the water sector including Ganga rejuvenation, inter-linking of rivers, ensuring availability of clean and potable water among others.
Vedire, an engineer with 15 years work experience in the USA, has been associated with the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Water Resources besides being a member of the team set up by Water Resources Minister Uma Bharati to study and suggest measures to maintain "aviral" (uninterrupted and continuous) flow of River Ganga at Tehri Dam and other such dams obstructing the river's flow.

He has written several books including Gujarat's success story in Water Management, Water Grid for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh using Rivers Godavari and Krishna and Innovative Water Management Practices indispensable for India.
According to an official statement, Vedire will be advising the Ministry in all matters including Ganga Rejuvenation, Inter-linking of Rivers, ensuring availability of clean and potable water, ensuring availability of adequate water for agricultural purposes to ensure food security to the nation and on any such matters as may be referred by the Ministry.
Vedire is currently a member of the Task Force set up by the Government of Rajasthan on 'Integrated command and catchment area development in the State of Rajasthan'.

He has also submitted a report on revival of River Saraswati, an ambitious project of Government of Rajasthan.
