Himachal Pradesh government has nominated disability rights activist and chairman of Umang Foundation, Ajai Srivastava, as an expert member of the State Advisory Board on Disability, an official spokesperson said.
The board works under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. The minister of social justice and empowerment is the chairman of the advisory board, he added.
"The new Disability Law has come up last year and ground realities have entirely changed. There is an immediate need to bring a new State Policy for Persons with Disabilities. Achieving this target, will be my topmost priority, Srivastava, who played a key role in framing the state policy for persons with disabilities in 2012, said.
