Star CJ changes name to Shop CJ after Star exit

Online shopping platform CJ alive has changed its brand name to Shop CJ after the exit of broadcast major Star from the venture.
The broadcast major has been replaced by Providence Equity Partners after Star decided to focus on its core business of general entertainment and sports channels, Shop CJ said in a statement.
Shop CJ would expand its presence in east and north-east through warehouses.
The firm has also launched a new brand identity and logo along with a tagline 'shop a new trend', it further said.
In addition to that the online retailer also ventured into mobile commerce by launching its Mobile app 'Shop CJ' on the android platform.
Commenting on the development Shop CJ Network CEO Kenny Shin said: "The CJ group is globally known for its product quality and innovation. Our experience of various countries will prove to be useful to serve Indian consumers with world-class product experience".
Shop CJ CFO N Ramakrishnan said: "We will be expanding our presence in east and north-east through physical warehouses. Company is also investing to improve warehouse management system which will enhance logistics and the back-end services".
In June 2014, Star India exited its equal partnership in e-commerce portal Star CJ Network by offloading its stake to Providence Equity Partners for an undisclosed amount.
Apart from web and app, Shop CJ is also available on DTH platforms like Dish TV, Tata Sky, Airtel and Videocon.
