Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today said the state will not lose Hero Motocorp project to the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh at any cost.
"At any cost, the state will not lose the Hero Motocorp project to Andhra Pradesh," he told reporters here.
Hero Motocorp, a leading two-wheeler manufacturer, will be setting up its production unit in the state at a cost of Rs 1,450 crore.
The unit will come up on 300 acres in Mummigatti near Dharwad, Siddaramaiah said, adding, it planned to manufacture 1.8 million two-wheelers.
The government will take all possible steps at the upcoming meeting scheduled on August 3 with the two-wheeler manufacturer to look into their demands of providing some incentives and facilities at the site, Siddaramaiah said.
The company officials had also held a meeting with the government on July 5 to discuss their wishlist.
The cabinet sub-committee is looking into the wishlist provided by the company, Siddaramiah said, adding that the government has already approved the proposal to provide power and water at the proposed unit.
Dharwad already houses Tata Marcopolo Motors, which manufactures buses, and Telco Construction Equipment company, Siddaramaiah said.
This would be the sixth two-wheeler factory coming up at Mummigatti.
