This is the highest number of heats made by the unit for any single shift, RSP said in a release.
Notably SMS-II is a crucial unit in the production chain of the integrated steel plant, it said.
Rourkela Steel Plant, like all other steel plants of the country, has hit a rough financial patch, the release added.
The company has focussed on improving every link to optimize its performance. According to RSP CEO Ashwini Kumar, SMS-II was not able to match the performance of other units because of teething troubles.
