Special officers have been deputed at Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh and New Delhi to oversee arrangements to facilitate train travel by the stranded passengers.
Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge, who reviewed the progress of the evacuation plan today, instructed the Railway Board to ensure smooth management for departure of passengers by trains.
"Passenger help booths at these locations have been set up and they are being manned round the clock. Adequate arrangement for catering facilities and drinking water has been ensured at these locations," said a senior Railway Ministry official.
Steps are being taken for station maintenance, including passenger facilities, to handle the additional traffic expected at these locations.
