Sterlite hails NGT order, says operations to start in a week

Sterlite Industries today welcomed the National Green Tribunal's order allowing it to recommence operations of its copper smelting plant in Tuticorin district.
"NGT has laid down certain conditions. We welcome the order and will work closely with the regulatory authorities. We expect to resume production in approximately one week," the company said.
The tribunal today allowed the "Tuticorin Copper Smelter of Sterlite Industries to recommence production," the company said in a statement.
Shares of the company ended at Rs 93.55 a piece, up by 2.58 per cent over previous close in BSE.
