The 59-year-old actor has voluntarily entered a Malibu treatment centre over concerns regarding his alcohol intake, according to In Touch magazine.
His representative has confirmed the news, saying, "In recent months, he realised he was starting to drink more than he was comfortable with. He preemptively wanted to take care of the issue. But in no uncertain terms does he take drugs, nor is he being treated for a drug-related addiction."
Bauer, who shares a son, Alexander, with ex-wife Melanie Griffith, is "serious about staying sober", according to a source.
He also appeared in "Scarface" and "Primal Fear.
