The incident took place during an annual festival in the village, they said, adding, the girl succumbed to her injuries following the attack.
Tension prevailed in the area for some time as angry villagers staged a dharna blaming local administration's "failure" to check the dog menace.
However, the situation was brought under control following intervention by police and some members of the public.
