Strength through economic activities and inter-dependence

Union Minority Affairs Minister Najma Heptulla today said that integration between different communities in the country should be strengthened through economic activities and inter-dependence.
"Integration between different communities should be strengthened and this could be achieved through economic activities and interdependence among them," Heptulla told a delegation of the opposition National People's Party which met her.
Stating that one of the key objectives of her ministry was to ensure that integration between different communities, she was quoted as saying "More focus should be given to local skill development centres which would allow people to set up different economic activities and units which would improve the economic scenario in respective regions and ultimately lead to better integration of the nation."
The delegation led by Opposition Chief Whip James Sangma and former opposition leader Conrad K Sangma, stressed on the need to improve infrastructure in educational institutions especially run by minorities, and impart skill development to different minority groups for their uplift.
The union minister was also briefed on the law and order in the state, especially the Garo Hills region and how small medium and big businessman was suffering in the past 3 to 4 years due to the impact of militancy.
The minister assured the delegation full support of her ministry and the NDA government and stated that the North East would be given special focus by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
