She was rushed to a government hospital.
Constable Bommi was deputed to the All Women Police Station (AWPS) here recently from the Armed Reserve in Villupuram. She was allegedly burdened with continuous work schedule covering profiles like sentry and court related work. This had caused a lot of stress.
As her request for change of duty was allegedly turned down, she had taken the extreme step.
"She wanted change of duty. She was asked to wait till evening. However, she consumed poison," her immediate superior officer Police Inspector, AWPS, D Prabavathi told PTI.
She said Bommi threatened her that she would commit suicide if her duty was not changed immediately. "I have informed higher officials about what happened," Prabavathi said.
