The decision was taken after several meetings and discussions with student organisations, and as per the election manifesto of this government, Officer on Special Duty to the Chief Minister Bhupinder said here.
"Student union elections will be conducted in the next academic session of 2018-19 that is by September," he said.
Members of the Indian National Students Organisation (INSO), the INLD's students' wing, have been seeking students' body polls in the state.
They had also held a protest to press the state government to conduct the elections.
