Sugar firms up on persistent demand

Prices of both varieties of sugar firmed up further at the Vashi wholesale market here today following persistent demand from stockists and retailers amid sustained offtake from bulk consumers.
Medium sugar (M-30) moved up by Rs 4 per quintal to Rs 4,010/4,172 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 4,006/4,172.
Small sugar (S-30) also edged up by Rs 4 per quintal to Rs 3,956/4,015 as against Rs 3,952/4,015.
Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,956/4,015 (Rs 3,952/4,015).
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 4,010/4,172 (Rs 4,006/4,172).
