Sugar flares up on strong seasonal demand
Press Trust of India Mumbai Both varieties of sugar prices flared up at the Vashi wholesale market here today on heavy stockists and millers offtake amidst strong summer seasonal demand.
Persistent export enquires also rallied the sugar prices, a trader said.
Medium sugar (M-30) shot-up by Rs 117/150 to Rs 3,242/ 3,382 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 3,125/3,232.
Small Sugar (S-30) jumped by Rs 94/160 Rs 3,130/3,262 as against Rs 3,036/3,102 previously.
Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,130/3,262 (Rs 3,036/3,102).
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,242/3,382 (Rs 3,125/3,232).
