Sugar jumps on sustained demand

Prices of both varieties of sugar jumped at the Vashi wholesale market here today following sustained demand from stockists and exporters amid persistent millers offtake.
Medium sugar (M-30) surged by Rs 80 per quintal to Rs 3,062/3,192 from Monday's closing level of Rs 2,982/3,112.
Small sugar (S-30) shot up by Rs 50/72 per quintal to Rs 2,992/3,072 as against Rs 2,942/3,000 previously.
Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,992/3,072 (Rs 2,942/3,000).
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,062/3,192 (Rs 2,982/3,112).
