Sugar surges on persistent demand
Press Trust of India Mumbai Prices of both varieties of sugar surged further at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to persistent demand from stockists and retailers on the back of seasonal offtake.
Small sugar (S-30) climbed by Rs 74/70 per quintal to Rs 2,836/2,802 from Saturday's closing level of Rs 2,762/2,872.
Medium sugar (M-30) rose by Rs 40 per quintal at Rs 2,900/3,072 as against to Rs 2,860/3,072 previously.
Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,900/3,072 (Rs 2,860/3,072).
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,836/2,802 (Rs 2,762/2,872).
