Sugarcane Price Control Board appointed in Maharashtra
Press Trust of India Mumbai The Maharashtra government today announced the constitution of Sugarcane Price Control Board which will take all the decisions related to the sugarcane pricing.
The board will comprise representatives of farmers organisations, the sugar co-operative as well as the private mills.
Cooperation minister Chandrakant Patil said all the decisions related to the sugarcane prices will be taken by the board.
Constitution of such a body was one of the recommendations of the C Rangarajan Committee which had studied the issue of de-control of the sugar industry.
Lok Sabha MP Raju Shetti and Raghunath Patil (both from Shetkhari Sanghtana) and NCP leader Vijaysinh Mohite-Patil are among the members of the board, the minister said. Besides, Patil himself and the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis are also the members.
