Sukhbir slams Cong for registering cases against party workers

SAD Chief Sukhbir Singh Badal today accused the Congress of getting case registered against Akali workers in Gurdwara Gallughara incident at Gurdaspur.
Badal also sought withdrawal of cases against the Akali workers.
Coming down heavily against the conduct of the Punjab Police, which he alleged that instead of respecting the sentiments of the Sikh Sangat, "sided with" the alleged Congress-sponsored anti-Sikh gang.
He also registered cases against peaceful protesters and Akali leaders and workers who were merely demanding the restoration of the 'maryada' in Gurdwara Ghallughara Sahib, Kahnuwan.
In a statement, Badal demanded that all the cases registered against Akali workers be immediately withdrawn.

A criminal case was registered against 27 Akali workers including two former Akali ministers on charge of stopping police from performing duty at Gurdwara Gallughara in Kahnuwan area in the district on Sunday.

Police was deployed at Gurdwara Ghallughar to stop Akali workers from going towards Gurdwara to maintain law and order. However, Akali workers forcibly made their way while going towards Gurdwara.
SAD president said the Sikh Sangat was outraged over the "immoral acts" reportedly carried out on the precincts of the Gurudwarra Ghallughara Sahib at Kahnuwan Sahib.
The Akali president said that the disgraceful acts being reported and exposed about the goings-on in the holy place involve a "most grave issue of violation of Sikh Maryada and the most respected Jathedar Sahib of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib has every right to intervene where everywhere Sikh Maryada is violated.
