Sumit, Ranjeet, Prashanth progress to second round

Top seed Vijay Sundar Prashanth, fourth seed VM Ranjeet and last week's champion Sumit Nagal recorded straight set victories in the first round of the ITF Men's Futures tennis tournament, here today.
Ranjeet was pushed to the corner in the first set by Xin Gao of China but finally prevailed 7-6 (9) 6-1 11-9.
Prashanth outplayed Shabaaz Khan 6-1 6-4 while seventh seed Sumit Nagal got the better of Siddarth Rawat 6-4 6-2.
In other matches, Tejas Chaukulkar outlasted Niki Poonacha while Chandril Sood managed to out play Abdullah Shaikh in three sets.
Prajnesh Gunneswaran was too good for Lakshit Sood while Prajwal Dev was too steady for the erratic Ausralian Zach Itzstein (AUS).

In yet another match, Borja Rodriguez Manzano (Spain) got the better of Rishabdev Raman 6-2, 7-6(2).
