Senior IPS officer Surendra Singh was today appointed as OSD at the Police Head Quarters, which paved his way to become the next Director General of Police of Madhya Pradesh.
Singh will succeed current DGP Nandan Dube, who will be retiring from the service on September 30, a senior official said.
Prior to today's appointment, Surendra Singh, a 1980 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, was posted as the DGP Jails.
An official order posting Singh as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the Police Head Quarters (PHQ) was issued by Principal Secretary, Home BP Singh earlier in the day, he said.
Singh will assume his new responsibility from tomorrow, the official added.
