The survey was aimed at ensuring medical facilities for other-state workers and to check exploitation by employers, the minister said in a release here.

The government had set apart Rs 10 crore for various welfare measures for workers from other states. The survey would help it to know the exact number of such workers, he said.

Employers had been instructed to provide the government with the required information. Workers could also register their names with the Labour department.

The survey would be extended to panchayat level, he said.
