Suspected Maoist held, arms seized

The police today arrested a suspected Maoist ultra and seized landmines, arms and ammunition from his house in West Midnapore district.
Superintendent of Police Bharati Ghosh said Biren Chalok was arrested as a suspected Maoist from Pyanchapara village under Salbani police station.
Police seized three land mines, as many .303 rifles, 21 rounds of ammunition and Maoist posters from his house, she said.
Police have launched a massive search for suspected Maoists in 11 blocks of the district dominated by the red rebels ahead of the Independence Day.
