A suspected militant was killed and two others were injured in an explosion at a house in this headquarter town of Burdwan district today.

Ahmed was originally from Karimpur in Nadia district, he said, adding, Hasan Saheb, hailing from Lalgola in Murshidabad district, and another unidentified person was injured in the explosion.
The police were suspecting that they belonged to a militant outfit as a large number of watch dials, SIM cards and other tools required to make improvised explosive devices (IED) were found in the house.
The police also seized some half-burnt papers from the spot.
It was not yet clear how the explosion took place.
The SP said the bomb squad has been informed.
At about 12 noon, the local people heard a loud sound and smoke was bellowing out of a first floor window and informed the fire brigade and the police.
When reporters reached the spot, they found watch dials, mobile phone SIM card, etc strewn all over the place.
Owner of the two-storey house, Hasan Chowdhury, said he had given it to Shakil Ahmed, the deceased, on a monthly rent of Rs 4700 but he did not know who the others were.
Shakil Ahmed's wife Rumi Bibi said she and her husband were staying in the house for about three months while Amina Bibi, wife of injured Hasan, said she was there for about one and a half months.
