The State Vigilance Commission (SVC) today restored government land worth crores of rupees that was allegedly encroached upon by private individuals in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir.
"The State Vigilance Commission got about 74 kanals (9 acres) of government land (Kahcharie), encroached by some private persons, restored at Ramban district," an SVC officer said.
The Commission, while proceeding on a complaint regarding alleged encroachment of state land by some private persons at village Billawat, in connivance with some revenue officials and for non-implementing orders of the Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, had summoned Additional Deputy Commissioner (DVO) Ramban alongwith an action taken report.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ramban stated in his report that in pursuance of the directions issued to him by the Commission, the wrong entries made in Khasra Girdawari in respect of state land bearing khasra Nos 661, 662, 666, 667, 669, measuring about 74 kanals at village Billawat, Tehsil Ramban, have been deleted.
The official thus informed the Commission that the said land has been freed from encroachers and its possession has been kept under the supervision of Numberdar and Chowkidar of the village, so that, in future no such unscrupulous person(s) may encroach it again, SVC official said.
The State Vigilance Commission appreciated the work done by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (DVO) Ramban, who not only got the state-owned land vacated but also ensured rectified entries in the revenue records.
