A magisterial court today sent all the six accused arrested in connection with Friday's gangrape of a Swiss woman in a day's police remand as an outraged Congress forced adjournment of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly and observed state-wide protests.
Datia Chief Judicial Magistrate R P Yadav sent the six accused --Baba, Bhutha, Rampro, Gaza alias Brajesh, Vishnu Kanjar and Nitin Kanjar--in one-day police remand, Deputy Inspector General of police D K Arya told PTI.
The police is waiting for the Swiss couple to return from New Delhi to identify their belongings seized from the accused and possibly also the perpetrators of the crime.
Police have recovered from the accused, aged between 19 and 25 years, a 12-bore gun, laptop, laptop-charger, mobile phone, besides Rs 5,500 cash allegedly looted from the couple.
Meanwhile, the victim and her husband have expressed their readiness to cooperate with the ongoing probe and identification process.
"While speaking to Ambassador Linus von Castelmur the couple expressed their readiness to fully cooperate in the ongoing investigation and identification process. They will continue to stay in India for the moment," a Swiss embassy release in Delhi said.
The shocking incident, which has triggered a public outcry, rocked the state assembly which witnessed noisy scenes by main Opposition Congress, which thrice forced adjournment of the House, the last being for the entire day.
