Synthetic yarn mill gutted

A synthetic yarn manufacturing mill was extensively damaged in a fire that raged for over 20 hours in Kavi Nagar Industrial Area here, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ranvijay Singh said today.
Singh said the fire broke out last night around 9 PM and started spreading towards the godown where huge quantity of raw material was stocked.
He said 23 fire tenders were summoned from Meerut Zone and pressed into service. But, the flames could not be completely doused even 20 hours after the fire broke out probably because of electrical short circuit, he said.
Though finished yarn was damaged, there was no report of any casualty as no worker was present in the mill at the time of the mishap, he said.

District Magistrate Vimal Kumar Sharma and Senior Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Yadav rushed to the spot to supervise the fire fighting operation.
