Taste of India at dinner for African dignitaries

Visiting African dignitaries were today served a sumptuous array of delicacies -- from Kashmiri cuisines to South Indian coastal dishes along with palate- pleasing combination of sweet and sour flavours of Gujarat -- at the banquet hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.
The dinner at the Crafts Museum in Pragati Maidan provided a traditional ambiance for the event in honour of African Heads of governments and States.
While the delectable vegetarian platter included Paneer Tikka, Subz Til Kebab and the famous Moti-e-Zamin, the main course comprised Kashmiri Dum Aloo, Panir Rihana, Adraki Gobhi, Dal Dera Ismail Khan and the host's favorite Vatana Muthia nu Shaak, served along with the choices of assorted Indian breads.
The menu crafted especially for the occasion by a team of top chefs of ITDC-run The Ashok hotel, offered a variety of selections from West, South and Eastern regions of the country besides the cuisine from Northwest Frontier Province and Awadh showcasing the rich culinary diversity of the country.
The non-vegetarian menu comprised the hotel's signature Kebab-e-Bannu, Tandoori Prawns and Pathar Kebab for starters while main course had Malabar Meen Curry, Murg Rihana and Dum ki Gosht Biryani in a flavorful combination of aromatic rice and lamb curry with special spices.
The beverage menu included refreshing Mint Sorbet and Qehwa/South Indian coffee while the sweet tooth cravings of the guests were taken care by delicious Stuffed Kala Jamun served along with Rabri, Saffron flavored Sandesh, Shrikhand and fresh fruits.
Talking about the menu, The Ashok Chef Rajan Loomba, said, "For today's dinner our emphasis was to create a combination of different varieties of authentic Indian cuisines, representing the wide variety of unique dishes from across the country.
