"The Company's robust non-fossil fuel portfolio comprises 693 MW of Hydro, 918 MW of Solar, 1,074 MW of Wind, and 375 MW of waste gas-based generation. Taking a step further towards building a greener portfolio last year, the Company revised its share of non-fossil fuel based capacity up to 35- 40 per cent by 2025," the company said in a statement.
According to the statement, the company's wind generation capacity has also increased by 82 per cent in FY'17, up from 591 MW in FY'16 to 1,074 MW in FY'17, and solar generation capacity increased from 56 MW in FY'16 to 918 MW in FY'17.
In FY'16, Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), an arm of Tata Power, completed the acquisition of Welspun Renewables Energy Private Limited (WREPL) to become the largest Renewable Energy Company in India, it said.
The WREPL has one of the largest operating solar portfolios in India spread across 10 States. It has about 1,008 MW of Renewable Power Projects comprising about 862 MW Solar Power Projects and about 146 MW of Wind Power Projects.
TPREL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Power. It is Tata Power's primary investment vehicle for clean and renewable energy based power generation capacity.
TPREL's present operating capacity is 1,876 MW, comprising 841 MW wind and 915 MW solar and 120 MW of waste heat recovery capacity located in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
TPREL is seeking to grow its renewable portfolio in India and in select international markets through organic and inorganic opportunities.
With the acquisition of WREPL and the project pipeline, TPREL's portfolio grows to about 2.2 GW making it the largest Renewable Energy Company in India, it added.
