Tata Power shares rise 2.5% on Q1 profit

Shares of Tata Power climbed almost 2.5 per cent today as the company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 241.33 crore for the quarter ended June 30.
Tata Power's scrip ended the day at Rs 69.20, up 2.44 per cent on the BSE. During the session, it jumped 4.88 per cent to Rs 70.85.
At the NSE, shares of the company rose by 2.36 per cent to Rs 69.15 at close.
The company added Rs 447 crore to Rs 18,716 in market valuation.
On the volume front, 11.13 lakh shares of the company changed hands at the BSE and over 81 lakh shares were traded at the NSE during the day.
Private power producer Tata Power today reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 241.33 crore for the quarter ended June 30, helped by higher revenues.
The company had reported a net loss of Rs 111.30 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal, Tata Power said in a regulatory filing.
The total income from operations during the quarter was at Rs 9,234.58 crore, an increase of 6.05 per cent, from Rs 8,707.53 crore in the year-ago period.
