Tax official held for amassing disproportionate assets

An official at the office of Deputy Commercial Taxes Officer (DCTO-Musheerabad Circle) here was today arrested for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets worth over Rs 83 lakh, an ACB release said.
A search was conducted by the ACB officials at the residence of E Anand Babu at Asif Nagar.
Several documents pertaining to assets, income and expenditure were seized, an ACB release said.
Following inquiry, Babu admitted that he had acquired assets worth Rs 83,09,358, which were disproportionate to his known sources of income, it stated.
Babu was subsequently arrested and produced before an ACB court.
