TCIL hands over Rs 1-cr dividend cheque to Telecom Minister

State-run engineering firm TCIL today handed over a dividend cheque of Rs 1 crore to Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.
On receiving the cheque, Prasad said, "While I compliment you for the cheque but I am not thrilled with the amount. PSUs have got best of the resources and talents and you can do more."
The minister further said that public sector units should remain in the field for creating balance in the industry and protecting consumer interests.
"We have got good number of projects to work on this year and hope to increase dividend significantly next year," Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd (TCIL) Chairman and Managing Director Vimal Wakhlu said.
The company has reported an increase of 9.3 per cent in its consolidated profit at Rs 175 crore for FY 2013-14, as against Rs 160 crore a year ago.
Its income increased to Rs 2,079 crore for the year ended March 31, 2014 as compared to Rs 1,902 crore a year ago.
