Reddy and her son A. Sandeep Reddy resigned from the TDP's primary membership yesterday.
The duo, along with their followers, joined the TRS in presence of the chief minister.
Reddy was a three-time MLA before she was defeated from Bhongir in the 2014 polls by TRS candidate P Shekar Reddy.
KCR assured that Reddy and her son would be given appropriate positions in the party.
Reddy's husband was allegedly shot dead by naxals when he was a minister in the TDP government in the year 2000.
