Borgohain was 82 and is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
Borgohain was suffering from heart-related problems and was admitted to Escort Fortis Hospital.
Owner of eight tea gardens in Assam, Borgohain had also served as the former Chairman of Tocklai Tea Research Association, Assam Tea Corporation Limited and Indian Tea Association.
Another prominent tea planter Mukid Zaman died following a cardiac arrest at his residence in Titabor of Assam's Jorhat district today, family sources said.
Zaman was the owner of Hirajan Tea Estate.
