Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said biographies of martyrs of freedom struggle should be taught in schools, which he believes would increase patriotism.
"The biographies of martyrs of freedom struggle should be included in the school syllabus so that (coming) generations can draw an inspiration from their sacrifice. This will also foster patriotism," Singh said at a function after unveiling statue of freedom fighter Thakur Ranmat Singh at Koti near here.
He said schools, panchayats and health centres should be named after martyrs hailing from respective areas.
"India is the land of diversity and the dream of turning it into a powerful nation could be achieved through unity," Singh said.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and state BJP president Rakesh Singh also spoke on the occasion.
