Teenager drowns in river

A 14-year-old boy drowned in a a river, where he had gone for a swim near Valparai in the district, police said today.
The boy, Jebas, an eighth standard government school student, has gone to take bath last evening in Koozhangal river in an estate area in Valparai, some 90 Kms from here and was caught in the undercurrent, police said.
Search for Jebas remained futile last night and the fire and rescue personnel retrieved the body this morning, they said.
