Singh was speaking at the inauguration of a relief camp organised by the Hind Samachar group of newspapers in association with Lions Club, Jammu at Maralia in Miran Sahab area here.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the media group had been playing "yeoman's role in social and other related sectors".
"The role played by the Hind Samachar group during the darkest era of militancy in Punjab for upholding the integrity of the nation and defeating the forces of secession is historic," Singh added.
