Terrorist organisations are like microbes who are constantly evolving, mutating and hitting back with greater velocity, Chhattisgarh Governor Shekhar Dutta said today.
At a conference on "roadmap to safety and security to cities and critical infrastructure assets", he said there was need to strengthen security in cities on lines of steps taken to deal with natural disaster.
He said technology and skills of the police forces should be regularly upgraded to curb the activities of terrorists and criminals.
"Bacteria, virus and criminals keep evolving with changing societies. Thus, the security set up of the state also needs transformation constantly," he said.
Dutta said India, as a nation, can learn a lot from Japan on issues to handle security and disaster management.
Delhi Police Special Commissioner S N Srivsatava said new technological solutions have to be made keeping in mind the increasing needs of police organisations.
He said new systems should be able to be integrated with the technologies that police forces already have.
Srivastava said Delhi Police have advanced software for analytics and additional cameras required to implement the safe city project.
The 'Delhi Safe City' project would be completed in four phases, out of which three have already been completed while the fourth is getting implemented now, he said.
Additional Director General of Madhya Pradesh Police Purushottam Sharma stressed the need for acquiring high quality technology.
He said police forces suffer due to poor quality of technology that companies provide which do not even sustain for a few years and do not even give the basic return on investment.
Sharma said forces should have standardisation of all technologies that should meet the international standards.
