"We are pleased to launch... Direct flights from Bengaluru to Bangkok from September 1 onwards. We are offering an exciting lowest fares beginning Rs 3,999 per way inclusive of airport tax and fees," Thai AirAsia CEO Tassapon Bijleveld told reporters here.
Ticket can be booked till July 5 for travel during September 1 to August 31, 2016, he added. Bijleveld said five flights will take off from Bengaluru every week.
By making Bengaluru a central travel hub, travellers from Kochi, Goa, Pune, Jaipur, Chandigarh, New Delhi and Visakhapatnam will now be able to conveniently connect to Thailand and other South-East Asian countries, he said.
Apart from Bangkok, passengers will also be able to take advantage of Thai AirAsia's Fly-Thru options from Bengaluru in the near future, which is a convenient transit service to other destinations via Bangkok Don Mueang Airport, he said.
From Bengaluru, there are a total of 15 Fly-Thru possibilities that will be soon become available in the near future, including white-sand beach destinations in Phuket, Krabi, Surat Thani, Hat Yai, or northern Thailand's mountains and beautiful scenery in Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai among many other cities, Bijleveld said.
In 2014, Thailand welcomed 9,46,269 Indian visitors while Thai people are one of the top-20 nationalities visiting India, Bijleveld said.
