A businessmen here in Maharashtra has filed a police complaint, alleging that he has been receiving extortion calls from fugitive gangster Ravi Pujari, a police official said Tuesday.
The businessmen, in his complaint filed on Monday, claimed that he received several calls between November 6 and 12 from a person who identified himself as Pujari and demanded Rs one crore from him, he said.
The complainant also said that the caller threatened him with dire consequences if he did not pay the money, the official said.
The Thane Police registered a case against the unidentified caller under IPC sections pertaining to extortion and a probe was underway into it, he added.
