Fans may wish to see Michael Keaton return to his "Beetlejuice" role in a sequel but the actor feels it is perhaps too late to revisit the 1988 hit.
There have been rumours about a possible sequel for sometime but Keaton does not see it happening.
Asked if he knows anything about it, Keaton told Variety, "No. Zero. You always hear things, that this is happening, and people seem to know more about it than I do."
The actor said while he loves the character "it's possible that ship has sailed."
"The only way to do it is to do it right. So much of it was improvised and so much was beautifully handmade by the artist that is Tim Burton. If you can't get close to that, you leave it alone," he said.
The former "Batman" star will next be seen in a film adaptation of Vince Flynn's bestselling novel series "American Assassin" besides returning to the universe of superheroes with "Spider-Man: Homecoming".
Asked how he feels about moving from the DC world of "Batman" to Marvel's "Spider-Man" universe, Keaton said, "You're asking the wrong guy. I know so little about the entire culture; honestly it's a little embarrassing. You'd think that even by osmosis I would know more about it."
He is being helped by a friend's two daughters who fill him in with the backstory of his character in Spider-Man.
