Theft accused commits suicide in lockup

An inmate of Jarwal Road lockup allegedly committed suicide, prompting authorities to order a magisterial probe into the incident after protest by the victim's family, police said today.
Dinesh Singh (30), who was yesterday arrested by the police for his alleged involvement in a bike theft, committed suicide in lockup yesterday, they said.
Later, the locals and family members of the victim held a protest on the Jarwal-Gonda road, leading to traffic jam there, after which the district administration ordered a magisterial probe into the incident.
