While 247 cases of theft inside Metro premises were reported in 2012, as many as 2,745 cases emerged this year (till November 30).
Also, 93 cases were worked out in 2012, while this year only 131 of the 2745 cases could be worked out by the police, Rajya Sabha was told today.
The figures show an increase of 1117.29 per cent in cases of reported theft, in contrast to which cases worked out have increased by only 53.67 per cent, adjusted for the 11-month time period.
The cases reported include 28 instances of theft reported since 2012 at Metro stations under the jurisdiction of Gurgaon Police.
"Faridabad Police, Gautambudh Nagar Police and Ghaziabad Police have reported no case of theft to have taken place in past three years," said Minister of State for Home Affairs, Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary.
