Himachal Pradesh's ruling Congress has said the erstwhile BJP government was responsible for the poor condition of Theog-Rohroo road and alleged that the opposition party was politicising the issue.
Addressing party workers of Nerwa Block at Chopal, state Congress president Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu termed the protest on the Theog-Rohroo road issue as "political drama" and said during the BJP regime only 10 per cent work was completed.
He said soon after coming to power in Himachal Pradesh, his party-led government had floated tender for the project afresh and was hopeful that it would be completed within stipulated time-frame.
He blamed the erstwhile Dhumal government for ignoring Chaupal area and said the credit for development of Chaupal and other areas of the state goes to successive Congress governments at the Centre and in the state.
"Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh during his visit to the area had announced several development works and upgraded schools of the area for the benefit of the people," he said.
Sukhu said development of road network in the state is the top priority of the Congress governments as roads are the lifeline for the people of hill state.
"The Congress government is aiming to provide better road infrastructure to the people of the state which would also provide boost to tourism activities in the hill state.
"Further there is need to conduct feasibility survey for construction of tunnels so as to shorten the distance between different areas of the state," he said.
