The 36-year-old actress, who stars opposite Daniel Craig in the latest Bond film, confirmed that Elba has met Bond producer Barbara Broccoli regarding the role, reported Huffington Post online.
"I didn't realise that there was this talk about a black Bond, and then I did a film with Idris, and he said that he met Barbara Broccoli," Harris said.
"And that it does seem like there is a possibility in the future that there could very well be a black James Bond. And I would have to vote for Idris because I just finished working with him and he's a great guy," she added.
Harris plays Bond's fellow MI6 field agent Eve in the Sam Mendes-directed 007 film and has suggested that her character "wants to be a female version of Bond".
Last year, Elba had been cited as a likely successor to Craig in the role, and has confirmed that he would be keen to play Bond.
"I would do it, but I don't want to be called the first black James Bond," the actor had said.
