Eminent economists and thought leaders came together to discuss the many issues facing India at 70 and the initiatives needed in economic and governance policies to address them in the short and the long term.
The platform Thinkers Sandbox, created by Penguin Random House India and Thinkers, saw names likes Gurcharan Das, Rakesh Mohan, Bimal Jalan, Sanjeev Sanyal, Paranjoy Guha Thakurta, Arun Kumar and Amit Kapoor from the field of economics and governance.
Das' "10 Extraordinary Tales of Trade" that takes an in- depth view of business communities in India and Jalan's latest book "India: Priorities for the Future", a formidable analysis of India's economic journey in the last four decades, were also unveiled at the event held on Tuesday.
The speakers, who are also authors published by Penguin Random House India, discussed ideas that form the basis for their seminal works of literature, a selection of which was also presented to the delegates as an economics and governance boxset.
Talking about the initiative, Preeti Chaturvedi, AVP- Marketing at Penguin Random House India says, "The idea was to create a thought leadership platform that provides an opportunity for thinkers from a wide array of fields and with diverse views to ideate, take cognisance of our challenges and explore nimble solutions in the areas of economics, business, arts and culture and politics."
Amit Kapoor, Editor-in-Chief of Thinkers, says, "India is fortunate to have a ubiquity of talented minds in every field of the society that have made incomparable contributions in shaping the country as we know it today. Thinkers is all about recognising such individuals and their ideas.
