Three arrested at Delhi airport for trying to smuggle gold

Three men have been arrested by the Customs at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport here for allegedly trying to smuggle gold worth about Rs 30 lakh into the country.

The accused were intercepted after their arrival from Muscat on Friday.

A personal search and an inspection of their baggage resulted in recovery of seven gold bars weighing 1.01 kg, a statement issued today by the customs department said.

The market value the seized gold is estimated to be Rs 30.35 lakh, it said.
