Three arrested with 27 kg poppy in J-K

Three people were arrested on charges of drug peddling from different areas of Jammu district yesterday and around 27 kg of poppy was seized from them, the police said.
In Gangyal, the police arrested Surtaj Singh during a checking drive last evening with 10 kg of poppy. He revealed that he got the contraband from Srinagar, an officer said.
Jarnail Singh was arrested from the Deewangarh area of the RS Pura border belt during a raid and 9 kg of poppy was seized from him, he said.
In another case, a police party arrested MumtazAli from near the Sidhra bridge and seized 8 kg of the contraband last evening, the officer said.

Cases have been registered against the accused and investigations are underway, he said.
