The incident happened at Rampuda village under the jurisdiction of Polasara police station, the police said.
The injured was identified as Yudhistira Nayak, a resident of the same village, they said.
The bears attacked him when he was on his way to take a bath at the village pond today morning, the Forest Range Officer of Polasara, Prabhat Ranjan Das, said.
The animals ran away into a nearby forest after the villagers chased them, he said.
The range officer said that the bears were hiding in the hilly areas near the village.
His condition is stated to be serious, the police said.
