were killed and 25 others injured early this morning when a tractor they were travelling overturned at Kesiari in West Midnapore district.
The police said the woman and the child died after the tractor overturned as the driver tried to save a black cat that was crossing the road at Nachipur village.
They were returning after visiting a fair and attending a nightlong soiree in a nearby village.
The injured people were rushed to a local hospital and two of the seriously injured were referred to Midnapore Medical College and Hospital.
