Three drowns in stone quarrying pit filled with rain water

Three students drowned in a stone quarrying pit filled with rain water at Pettamala in the district today, police said.
They had gone to Pettamala, where there are stone quarrying pits, for site seeing.
When one of them accidentally slipped into the pit, others rushed to save him. But all of them drowned.
Another student who was part of the team, however, managed to escape, police said.
The bodies of the three were later recovered from the pit, police said.
